Earlier this week I headed to the West End to attend NotOnTheHighStreet Christmas in July event. It was a bit surreal to step out of sunny London and into a Christmassy atmosphere full of festive treats. NotOnTheHighStreet is one of my favourite online stores, my go-to for personalised quirky and unusual gifts so I was quite excited to see what they had in store for the Christmas season.
I am showing you here a selection of my favourite pieces, it was hard believe me, as there were lot’s of beautiful items on display.
FOR THE HOME
Lot’s of sparkly lights and decorations for your home and to adorn the mantelpiece. Beautiful prints with festive designs and a lot of gold. There was also a touch of Scandi style with a lot of black and white and monochrome designs.
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past 18 months or so, you have probably noticed the influx of palm leaves, pineapples, flamingos and exotic plants that have been popping all over the place. Yes, the tropical trend is here and it seems like it’s here to stay.
I am not one for big bold designs. I do love colour but I very rarely wear prints or incorporate big prints in my home. I am a bit taken but the tropical trend though, I guess it’s the beautiful rich colours and some of the fun designs around.
You don’t need to go over the top to enjoy it, you can also do it in a subtle way, so here below are my tips to style the tropical trend at home.
For the garden
When it comes to tableware, for al fresco dinning combine tropical prints pieces with plain ones. I love La Selva collection from John Lewis and I like the mix of leaf printed plates with plain ones.
Sometimes as a blogger you get offered amazing opportunities, not necessarily of big financial value but of great personal satisfaction that makes blogging worthwile. Nothing makes me happier than having fresh flowers at home so I couldn’t believe my luck when OK Bouquet offered to send me one of their bespoke bouquets.
I always make sure I have fresh flowers around, they are really a nice way of brighten up rooms and they always create a great focal point.
Soon it will be officially summer and this is the time of the year when we all look for inspiration on how to refresh our living rooms. You don’t necessarily need to do a complete living room make over but just adding a few accessories will make your space look more summery.
We all start dreaming of spending more time in the garden now that the days are getting longer and the weather is getting warmer. Every year I have visions of alfresco dinners or just evenings sitting outside once the kids have gone to bed. Unfortunately English summers are not like Spanish ones and those days are a bit sparse, still it’s great making the most of the weather.
I love how lovely gardens look lit up in the early evening. I have a lot of solar lights spread all over my garden but I find some of them stop working after a couple of years, especially if they are not of great quality, so I am always on the look out for new ideas.
Here is some garden lighting inspiration, all different styles and the best thing is they are all under £30.
