One of the positive things to come out of Covid is probably the way we now work. Personally I’ve gone from being in an office 5 days a week to just 2 or 3. This has made me rethink the clothes I buy and wear. There is no longer need to wear formal clothes and high heels on a regular basis, and instead I’m embracing a more casual dress code most of the week.
Outerwear
A habit we acquired during Covid was to walk in our local woods most weekends. Initially it was a great way to get out of the house during lockdown to keep the kids entertained and it’s something we’ve carried on doing since. We try to get out and about every weekend so suitable, warm clothing is essential.
I always steer toward colourful clothing and outerwear it’s no different. I have Lighthouse Clothing Iona Coat in red, I love it so much that I also have the long version, Long Iona in deep green.
They are great for outdoor walks . They are water and wind proof and also breathable. They keep me warm during our walks- which is the most important thing – but they also look quite stylish. The Long Iona was especially put to the test last week, with storm Eunice hitting London. It wasn’t just windy, but also rainy and miserable so having a waterproof coat came in very handy!
I love their little details, like the stripy soft jersey lining, that they have an internal pocket, the detachable hood (not on the long Iona) and the taped seams. And they are smart enough for the school run or to pop to the high street for a coffee.
Shoes
I now favour Chelsea boots and trainers instead of high heels. You probably won’t believe this, but before Covid I had never owned a pair of trainers! I got a pair of Vejas at the beginning of lockdown… if I was going to buy trainers they might as well be trendy ones!
Chelsea boots are so confortable. I’ve been wearing mine non stop, and love how great they look both with jeans and with dresses and skirts. Mine are from Carvela and no longer available, but there are lots of options out there on the High Street.
Handbags
Some people are shoe obsessed, some love bags, I am the latter. I love a bag, I’m not going to deny it. I have quite a big collection, bags for different times and occasions. These days I’m favouring quality over anything else. I got COS leather small bag for Christmas and it’s my current favourite. It’s make of lovely soft leather and it’s the perfect colour for winter.
These are my current favourites, the things I’ve worn non stop the past few months. I’m now looking forward to spring to be able to wear those lighter clothes that have been in my wardrobe since last year!
