With the weather so cold in the UK, my wardrobe for the past couple of months has consisted in chunky knits, coats and blanket scarves on repeat. For me, the best way to make a fashion statement at this time of the year is by wearing the right accessories. Jewellery, bags and shoes are the perfect complement to an otherwise boring season, clothes wise. I love accessories, and unlike with clothes there is never an issue about fitting or not fitting.
I seem to have amassed a large amount of long, pendant necklaces over time. Colourful and chunky ones are my favourites, they really make an outfit stand out and they are still smart enough to wear in the office. My favourite place to buy necklaces is Massimo Dutti. I love their designs – always a bit unusual.
I’m also always keen to invest in a good quality, smart pair of shoes. Something a bit different that can be worn to work but will also look great on a night out. I had my eye on these Boden shoes for quite a while and I snapped up a pair in the sales last month. I’m not much of a shoe person, especially as I struggle to find ones that will fit my wide feet and not leave them full of blisters, but these are amazingly comfortable and they look very stylish.
With the amount of earrings I have, you’d think I wear them every day! Just like with the necklaces I love bright, chunky earrings that will brighten up any of my outfits and be a focal point. Massimo Dutti is once again a favourite place to buy them, so are Zara, Stradivarius and Cos.
My love of bags is well known – I probably have one for every occasion and time of they year. Of course I have summer and winter bags, who doesn’t? Animal print is really fashionable at the moment. I know it’s not for everybody but I love it. I love practical bags and this clutch from Whistles is great for a night out (you know, I go out so much!) – but it’s also suitable to use at the weekend when I’m out and about with the kids.
Wearing accessories, especially at this time of the year means I can keep the rest of my look quite plain and let the accessories do the talking.
Do you love accessories as much as me?
