Our Christmas and New Year in Spain | My Weekly Round Up

Happy New Year! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a great end of the year.

I had a bit of a break from the blog in December so this is more of a monthly round up than a weekly one!
December is always a busy month, not only because of Christmas but because of my birthday. It’s always a time to celebrate and catch up with friends, full of get togethers and Christmas parties.
Christmas is always a bit hectic for us as a family. We try to split our time between my in-laws in the Midlands and my parents in Spain which is great, but it means we spend a lot of time travelling and by the time we get back to work we are ready for another holiday.

This year we spent New Year with my parents in Spain. I’m from Asturias, in the Northern part of the country which is very similar weather wise to the UK. People are always surprised about this, they think all of Spain is hot and sunny which is far from the truth. We had a lovely week, but it was so cold that we didn’t get out and about as much as we usually do. We love spending time by the beach in the summer – it’s funny how you take things for granted, and never thought living by the sea was such a big deal until I moved away.

Ate

What I didn’t eat it is more like it! I probably had my body weight in chocolate and biscuits during December. My mum loves feeding people – all Spanish mums do -so we had plenty of lovely food.

We had a lot of seafood, which Asturias is renowned for and I don’t seem to eat much when I’m in the UK.

I must admit after a few weeks of too much food I’m ready to eat healthier.

Wore

I was very lucky to receive many lovely gifts for my birthday and Christmas. I got a lovely coat from Cos for my birthday, it’s bright green -not a colour I would have usually gone for but I really like it. A classic A-line style, with a rounded collar, I’m sure I will be wearing it for many years.

I’ve been also wearing my new Massimo Dutti bag quite a lot since I got it for Christmas. Those that know me well know how much I love a bag, especially Massimo Dutti ones. Crossbody and not too big, it’s ideal for when I’m out and about at the weekend.

And Finally..

This year I’d love to be more consistent with updating the blog. Yes, I say this every year but working full time, having a young family and trying to have a social life make blogging on a regular basis a bit of a challenge. Maybe this will be the year that I will organise myself better and blog more than once a week.. Watch this space!

I’d also like to learnt to use Lightroom to edit my pictures. I want to learn to do some basic editing, nothing too fancy but something to make my images a bit more consistent.

  1. Sounds like you've had a lovely Christmas. Asturias and Galicia are on my list of places to visit. We lived near Malaga for years so we're more used to the Med, but it just looks so beautiful and green up there and we're always being told by Spanish friends the food is so much better. Love your coat! Hope you've had a great week
    1. Oh you should definitely visit Asturias and Galicia, really different from the rest of Spain and the food is delicious
