4 Mother’s Day gifts you’ll want to keep for yourself

As I mother, there is nothing I love more than a handmade gift or card from my children. Of course I love receiving presents, who doesn’t? But as adults we can buy ourselves whatever we need without waiting for a significant date. Saying this, Mother’s Day is quite a nice occasion for us mums to get treated by our little ones. Maybe a handmade gift, an experience or just a little token of appreciation

With Mother’s Day around the corner – this Sunday in the UK – I thought I’d put together a few gift ideas just in case you are looking for last minute inspiration.

Afternoon Tea

Afternoon tea is such a great experience and it would be a great treat for Mother’s Day. I’ve had afternoon tea at  both the Sanderson Hotel and Moggerhanger Park but there are so many places out there for all sorts of budgets and styles where you can treat your mum.  For those living in London, places like The Ritz, Fortnum & Mason and Claridges offer a traditional and more formal afternoon tea. Check The Rosewood, Sketch and One Aldwych for a contemporary, modern approach.

Flower Subscription

Receiving flowers feels like such a treat. Flowers make a great gift and it’s something that everyone loves. There are so many flower subscriptions out there to choose from – a while ago I reviewed Freddie’s Flowers, you can read it here. The best thing about subscriptions is that you can choose how often you want the flowers to be delivered and some of them can even be delivered through the letterbox. A flower subscription is something you might not think of buying for yourself but it’s a great gift and one that all mums will appreciate.

Pampering

All mums deserve a bit of pampering. A massage, facial or a spa break are always thoughtful and a great opportunity to give mums a bit of me time. Beauty products and beauty boxes also make great gifts, especially as most of them nowadays are so beautifully packaged. I have my eye on Glossybox a beauty subscription boxy full of gorgeous products and a steal at £10 per month.

Candles

Who doesn’t like candles? A little luxury to have at home that won’t cost the earth. The best thing about candles these days is how gorgeous their packaging is. Is not just about the fragrance, it’s also about the beautiful presentation.

My all time favourite is Winter from The White Company but I also love  Linen, that has a sweet, fresh smell, perfect for this time of they year. Jo Malone and Diptyque are great options if you feel like splurging. If you have a smaller budget Oliver Bonas and Sara Miller are great, more affordable alternatives.

The White Company

I hope I’ve given you some ideas for yourself or for your mum. Either way I hope you get spoiled on Sunday.

  1. Great idea for Mother's Day gifts. Very touching and gentle towards the closest person on this planet.
