Kids Birthdays – What do you think?

Birthday parties… When I was young(er) I didn’t have huge birthday parties, I had a couple of friends round for a bit of cake and a play date and that was it. No party bags or entertainers or anything fancy,

These days organising a kid’s birthday party is a bit like a wedding, you need to find a venue, prepare a guest list and stick to a budget.  Sticking to the budget is the tricky thing, especially if you live around London, now I am not tight, but it really kills me to spend an obscene amount of money to have some kids running around like lunatics for two hours.

We are organising my son’s 6th birthday and this is truly the highlight of his year (apart from Christmas) he has been making daily guest lists for the past six months, everyday he sits down and rereads and rewrites his list (his writing skills have improved a lot thanks to this)

I am lucky that he is still quite naïve and young and I can steer him towards a venue that he will really love, i.e. economical, so he is happy and we are happy but I’m really not sure how long this will last.

I wish I had the time and the ideas to organise something fantastic and great but unfortunately I haven’t. I always see great ideas in Pinterest and other blogs and  I ‘d love to do something like that for him, but I am sure he will be happy with the party and he will enjoy it regardless.

Do you do a party for your children? Do you stick to a budget or do you get carried away? What do you think about big do’s for children?

  1. I love love love parties. Just started planning my daughter's 3rd birthday party. Not sure how it has gotten to this but it is all on an excel for food, decor, budget, guest list. They make me so happy and I love the planning process.
    1. I love looking at ideas on the internet, but then I realise I haven't got the time and I end up not doing much. I have made my son's birthday invite this year, I really enjoyed it
  2. I'm sticking with the train of thought given to me by one of my babies godmothers... she said — 'don't waste your money on expensive gifts in goody bags. All kids want is a crap balloon, some bubbles, some stickers and some cake. And they'll be happy as Larry'.Job done :)I LOVE parties — love them — but always am mindful of how much things cost. If you can do something amazing, on the cheap, all the better! :) Thanks so much for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday — hope to see you again next week! xCaro | www.thetwinklediaries.co.uk
